LONG BEACH, CA — Long Beach will hold the largest number of sporting events outside of the city of Los Angeles for the 2028 Summer Olympics, the LA28 Olympic and Paralympic Games announced.

On Friday, it was announced that Long Beach’s Arena will host Handball, Marine Stadium will host Canoe-Sprint and Rowing competitions, Sailing will be held in the water along the Belmont Shore, Marathon Swimming and Triathlon competitions will be held along the Waterfront along Alamitos Beach, and Water Polo will be held in a temporary aquatics center at the Convention Center lot.

Pending approval, Long Beach could also host Artistic Swimming and Para Swimming competitions. In the coming months, LA28 will announce additional venue assignments in LA and other venue cities.

"The City of Los Angeles will host more Olympic sports than anywhere else, and Carson and Long Beach, which hosted competitions in previous Games, will host more competitions than ever before," said LA28 Chief Athlete Officer Janet Evans. "The venues in these cities are world-class, and provide the ideal conditions for athletes and fans, and we look forward to welcoming them in 2028.”
