Long Beach Poly Grad To Play In Super Bowl 59

If you don't want to root for the Chiefs or the Eagles, you can always cheer for the local boys.

CALIFORNIA — Some familiar California names are on the roster in Sunday’s Super Bowl LIX between the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans.

Ten of the players on the 53-man rosters got their start in playing high school football in California, according to High School Football America. They include wide receivers, cornerbacks, a punter, a quarterback, and a tight end.

  • Xavier Worthy, Wide receiver, Central (Fresno), Chiefs
  • Matt Araiza, Punter, Rancho Bernardo, Chiefs
  • Trent McDuffie, Cornerback, St. John Bosco, Chiefs
  • Chris Roland-Wallace, Cornerback, Knight (Palmdale), Chiefs
  • Keith Taylor, Cornerback, Servite, Chiefs
  • Nikko Remigio, Wide receiver, Mater Dei ,Chiefs
  • Tanner McKee, Quarterback, Corona Centennial, Eagles
  • Grant Calcaterra, Tight end, Santa Margarita, Eagles
  • Johnny Wilson, Wide receiver, Calabasas, Eagles

Overall, high school athletes from 31 different states, plus Australia will be represented when the Chiefs and Eagles battle for the Vince Lombardi Trophy for the second time in the last three years.

Florida has 14 former players (10 for Philadelphia, four for Kansas City) slated to play in America’s biggest football game.
