LONG BEACH, CA — A man was stabbed early Monday morning in Long Beach, police said.

The Long Beach Police Department responded to a report of a stabbing at about 1:35 a.m. in the area of Falcon Avenue and Broadway. When police arrived, they found a man with a non-life-threatening stab wound.

"Long Beach Fire Department personnel arrived on scene and transported the victim to a local hospital for his injuries," LB{D said in a statement.

Preliminary investigation results suggest that the victim was in the area when the suspect, a man he didn't know, approached and stabbed him. The suspect fled the scene before LBPD arrived.

No other injuries were reported and the motive for the stabbing is unknown, police said. The investigation was ongoing.
