LONG BEACH, CA — A man was fatally shot in Long Beach, authorities said Sunday.

The victim was identified as Jesse Stiles, 43, the Long Beach Police Department reported.

Officers dispatched at about 11:30 a.m. Saturday to a shooting call in the area of 17th Street and Santa Fe Avenue located Stiles suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper body.

Paramedics rushed the Long Beach resident to a hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

"Homicide detectives are investigating the motive and circumstances leading up to the shooting and are working to identify possible suspect(s)," according to a police statement.
