Officers <a href="https://www.longbeach.gov/police/news/lbpd-blotter-jan-1-2026/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">responded to a report of a shooting</a> in the 1700 block of Sherman Place just after 12:30 a.m. Thursday, the Long Beach Police Department said. When officers arrived, they found a man with non-life-threatening injuries to his lower body, police said. Officers helped the man, then Long Beach Fire Department rescuers took him to a hospital, police said. An investigation into the shooting, which police say was accidental, is ongoing.
