Man Killed In Long Beach, Shooter At Large

Long Beach police are investigating the death of a 39-year-old man who was shot Monday night.

LONG BEACH, CA — Long Beach Police are investigating a shooting that left a man dead Monday night.

LBPD responded to a report of a shooting in the 6000 block of Long Beach Boulevard at about 9:51 p.m. When police arrived, they found a man lying on the ground near the intersection of Victoria Street and Long Beach Boulevard.

The man had multiple gunshot wounds and officers attempted life-saving measures until they were relieved by the Long Beach Fire Department. Paramedics transported the victim, who was identified as 39-year-old Vernont Murray, to a local hospital where he was declared dead.

According to police, the suspect fled the scene prior to their arrival and the circumstances and motive for the shooting are unknown at this time.
