1. 2 Teens Injured In Long Beach Shooting: Police Investigation Continues (patch.com) — Long Beach police are investigating a Thursday evening shooting on Orange Avenue that left two teenage boys wounded and a third uninjured. Officers and Long Beach Fire Department paramedics treated the victims, whose injuries are described as non-life-threatening and minor, while the suspects fled before police arrived. Detectives continue to search for the group of male suspects after the confrontation reportedly escalated from a verbal exchange to gunfire.
   

2. Man arrested in October killing in Long Beach (presstelegram.com) — Long Beach police have arrested a 40-year-old man on suspicion of murdering another unhoused man in an October shooting near Cherry Avenue and a railroad right-of-way. Detectives say the victim later died at a hospital and are still seeking more details about what happened. Residents who may have seen anything are urged to contact LBPD homicide detectives or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
   

3. With the threat of layoffs looming, teachers union strikes tentative contract deal with Long Beach Unified (lbpost.com) — Long Beach Unified teachers are voting this week on a new tentative contract that union leaders say is their best option to help stave off potential layoffs amid a $70 million district deficit. The deal would run through 2028, strengthens workload and safety protections, keeps health premiums stable, but offers no raises as the district plans staff reductions and a Hoover Middle School closure.
   

4. Seeing is believing (workboat.com) — A mariner recounts a tense morning in Long Beach Harbor when a heavily listing container ship suddenly shed several dozen containers into Southeast Basin, crashing onto an emissions-reduction barge. The cascading containers sent a surge of water across the basin and briefly raised fears for workers’ safety. Fortunately, authorities report no major injuries after the dramatic incident.
   

5. LBCC to name its new performing arts center in honor of legendary singer Jenni Rivera (presstelegram.com) — Long Beach City College is naming its nearly finished performing arts center after legendary singer and Long Beach native Jenni Rivera, honoring her ties to the city and LBCC. The new Jenni Rivera Performing Arts Center will feature theaters, studios, and rehearsal spaces funded by local bond measures, and is expected to open at the Liberal Arts Campus this spring.
