- Councilmember Suzie Price, who represents the 3rd district (CD 3), announced Monday that she’s running for mayor. Her competition, thus far, includes former East Long Beach Councilmember Gerrie Schipske and current Councilmember Rex Richardson, who represents the 9th district (CD 9). Richardson welcomed her to the LB Mayor’s race. (LB Post, @RexRichardson)
- East Long Beach homes for sale are reaching million-dollar price tags. A Monday report shows that living in what some term the East End, which runs east of Clark Avenue between Carson Street and Atherton Street, is getting expensive. Most of the homes were built in the mid-1950s and sold for about $9,500 way back when. Now, buyers have to be prepared to pay six or seven figures. For example, 3939 Karen Avenue is listed at $983,000 while the asking price for 5930 Deborah Street is over one million. (LB Post)
- The City announced Friday a call for vendors. It is looking for “Black-serving mental health organizations to provide culturally affirming mental health services.” If your organization provides this service, or you are a clinician who does, you have until 11 a.m. on February 14 to apply via the Vendor Portal.
