- What are the city’s COVID numbers? As of Thursday, there were another 1,187 cases that the Department of Health and Human Services confirmed. “While the rate of increase is not as severe as the winter 2021-2022 surge, we continue to see a rise in COVID-19 cases — and boosters are not keeping apace.” said the City Health Officer. (Press-Telegram)
- We learned on Saturday that the city extended masking requirements “while aboard public transit and at indoor transportation hubs across the city.” Officials will re-evaluate this mandate every 30 days, “if the seven-day case rates drop to below 50 per 100,000 or if the CDC announces people are no longer required to wear masks in transportation corridors.” (LB Post)
- Earlier, we reported on Long Beach Transit’s plans to retire up to 31 bus stops along the routes of the 8, 40, 91, 93, 121, 173, and 191. We learned on Saturday that officials are pausing the plan, saying that “more study is needed.” Route 141, which was an L.A. Metro line, will go forward. It will run “along the eastern portion of Artesia Boulevard in North Long Beach.” (LB Business Journal)
