📰 Here are the top five stories today in Long Beach:

1) Someone fired off some shots on Sunday around 12:48 a.m. PD officers found casings in the 1100 block of Euclid. However, there were no victims or suspects on the scene. (LBPD)

2) Who’s targeting La Esquinita Mexican Grill at 755 West Willow Street? The Wrigley neighborhood eatery reported its fourth break-in in “less than a year” on Friday. Security footage shows that at 4:37 a.m., a masked person broke the glass, kicked in the front door, and then ran away empty-handed. Police responded almost an hour later to “an audible burglar alarm.” (Long Beach Post)

3) A Carson Park neighbor just about had it with the city’s failure to maintain its trees. A large branch broke in front of a home at Conant and Palo Verde. The homeowner had called the city repeatedly. Moreover, this is the third tree limb that has come down this year. (Nextdoor)

4) Good news! You can resume watering outside. We learned on Monday that “repairs to a water pipeline connecting the Colorado River to customers in Los Angeles County have been completed two days ahead of schedule!” That said, remember that Long Beach residents are still restricted to watering on Tuesdays and Saturdays only. (Long Beach Post)

5) Mark your calendars! There will be a kick-off event for the Latino Cultural Center and El Mercado de Long Beach at the Cesar Chavez amphitheater on October 1 at 3 p.m. The City Council approved $4 million to develop the property “at the Jenny Oropeza Community Center at Cesar Chavez Park, north of downtown.” Come, see the plans, enjoy The Mariachi Reyna De Los Angeles and hear from elected officials. Be sure to register by email to Francisco@Centrocha.org. (Press-Telegram)
