SigAlert: Flooding And Pileup Back Up 405 In Long Beach

Flooding and a multi-vehicle crash caused delays for Monday commuters, according to preliminary reports.

LONG BEACH, CA — A SigAlert was issued during the Monday morning commute after a multi-vehicle crash and flooding on the San Diego Freeway in Long Beach, according to preliminary reports.

Several vehicles were involved in the crash around 5:20 a.m. on the southbound interstate at East Spring Street near the Long Beach Airport, initial reports from California Highway Patrol said. Flooding was reported around 5:30 a.m. and at least one vehicle was stranded by 5:45 a.m., according to preliminary reports.

As of about 6:30 a.m., all lanes were flooded on the interstate at Exit 19B for nearby Cherry Avenue and the SigAlert was issued around 7 a.m. between East Spring Street and Temple Avenue, highway patrol said. It was lifted at about 8:45 a.m., according to highway patrol.
