A fraternity at Cal State Long Beach was suspended Tuesday by its national headquarters as authorities investigate a student’s allegation that she was sexually assaulted at a frat party.
School spokesman Mike Uhlenlkamp said the national headquarters of Kappa Sigma made the decision to suspend all activities at the fraternity’s CSULB chapter, precluding any immediate action by university administrators.

Long Beach police were contacted Sunday “regarding a female who reported she was sexually assaulted while attending an off-campus fraternity function,” according to police spokeswoman Marlene Arrona.
“Based on the preliminary investigation, a female and a male were involved in the incident,” Arrona said. “This appears to be an isolated incident. There is no indication, at this time, there is any safety concern to the community.”

No arrests have been made, according to Arrona, who said the “LBPD is actively investigating the allegations.” She said no other information would be released “at this time in order to protect the integrity of the case and protect the privacy of the victim as required by law.”
Police said both students and non-students attended the party, which was hosted by Kappa Sigma and during which alcohol was believed to have been served.
The female student said the suspect, whom she did not know, was in his early 20s.
Anyone with information on the case was urged to call the Long Beach Police Department’s Special Victims Section at (562) 570-7368.
