Teen Shot Near Long Beach Poly High School, Gunman At Large
Police say an adult man, who fired toward a group of teens, fled the scene.
LONG BEACH, CA — Police in Long Beach were searching for a suspected shooter after a teenager was shot just a few blocks away from a high school on Tuesday morning, authorities told Patch.
At around 10:30 a.m., officers were sent to the 500 block of New York Street regarding a shooting. Arriving officers found a 16-year-old suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the lower body, Eric Stachura, an officer at the Long Beach Police Department, said.
Long Beach fire officials took the teenager to the hospital, he said.

Police say they believe an adult man approached a group of teenage boys before producing a firearm and firing shots toward the group. A 16-year-old was struck and the suspect fled the scene before officers arrived, Stachura said.
The shooting occurred in the area less than a mile from Long Beach Polytechnic High School, which is located at 1600 Atlantic Ave.
