Truck Crashes Into Long Beach Apartment, Killing Father, Toddler
Police say a 42-year-old father and his 3-year-old daughter died after a pickup truck smashed into an apartment building in Long Beach.
LONG BEACH, CA — A Long Beach father and his 3-year-old daughter died when a speeding pickup truck they were in crashed into an apartment building Tuesday night, police said.
A 2014 Dodge Ram pickup truck crashed into an apartment building around 10 p.m. Monday. Multiple people inside the apartment building were hurt and the driver ran away, police said in a news release. The apartment is on Rose Avenue, near Artesia Boulevard. Officers and bystanders gave medical aid to the injured until the Long Beach Fire Department arrived.
The 42-year-old father died at the crash site. His daughter died at a hospital. Their names were withheld until family can be notified.

A preliminary investigation showed the truck speeding north on Rose Avenue when it left the road and crashed, police said. Investigators believe speed contributed to the crash.
The driver, a man who is about 20 to 25 years old, ran on foot, police said.
