Two Men Sentenced To Prison For Human Trafficking

A 20-year-old woman from Long Beach and a 15-year-old girl from Los Angeles were forced to work as prostitutes.

LONG BEACH, CA – Two men were sentenced Wednesday to state prison and ordered to register as sex offenders for the rest of their lives, culminating a human trafficking case that involved a 20-year-old woman in Long Beach and a 15-year-old girl in Los Angeles.

Bobby Joe King, 25, was ordered to serve a 23-year prison term in connection with his Jan. 24 no contest plea to a felony count of human trafficking to commit another crime and his admission of a gang allegation.

Co-defendant James Mark, 28, was sentenced to six years in state prison for his no contest plea to human trafficking of a minor for a commercial sex act.

King met the 20-year-old woman in Long Beach several months after encountering her online in 2015 and made the woman work for him as a prostitute, according to Deputy District Attorney Troy Davis.

Mark met the 15-year-old girl in a park, displayed a gun and forced the teen to work for him as a prostitute, according to the prosecutor.
