Woman Found Dead On Long Beach Bike Path Identified

Police believe a woman found dead on a Long Beach bike path may have been murdered, according to the Long Beach Police Department.

LONG BEACH, CA — The investigation is continuing into the death of a woman whose body was found near El Dorado Park Friday after authorities identified the woman.

Police responded to a report of a body "which did not appear" to have died from natural causes Friday at 11:45 a.m. in the area of the San Gabriel River and Willow Street, according to the Long Beach Police Department.

The woman has been identified by the Department of Medical Examiner as Priscilla Portella, 44, who is listed as being homeless. An autopsy is scheduled and her cause of death has not yet been determined, according to the department.

Police are investigating her death as a possible homicide, police said.
