Woman Seriously Hurt in Crash Driven by Girls in Suspected Stolen Car

Police were trying to pull over the car when it tried to evade officers, ending a crash shortly after the pursuit.

LONG BEACH, CA - A woman was hospitalized with serious injuries Sunday after her car was struck by a vehicle apparently stolen by a couple of girls, authorities said Monday.

Long Beach police officers tried to pull over the stolen car at Atlantic Avenue and New York Street about 7:15 p.m. Sunday, then began chasing it in a pursuit that ended a short time later with a crash at 10th Street and Ximeno Avenue, said Long Beach police Lt. Kevin Coy.

The stolen Toyota Camry, driven by a girl who had another girl as a passenger, crashed into a small white sedan, seriously injuring the woman who was driving the car and was its only occupant, Coy said, adding that she suffered serious injuries but exhibited stable vital signs after she was hospitalized.
