180 Breweries Worldwide, 180 Different Beers, One Message: 'We Love LA'
In the wake of January's wildfires, breweries as far away as Japan are creating unique beers as part of wildfire relief.

LOS ANGELES, CA — In one of the beer world's most expansive charitable collaborations, more than 180 breweries across the globe are crafting unique brews under a single name "We Love LA," as part of a campaign to support those impacted by January's wildfires.
The idea started at Hawthorne's Common Space Brewery, whose brewers felt compelled to take action after the fires broke out. Inspired by similar movements from the likes of Sierra Nevada and Maui Brewing, Common Space Brewery quickly found buy-in from Creature Comforts and Firestone Walker — which have hubs in LA — before eventually finding enthusiastic support from breweries as far away as Japan and Australia, Hannah Barnett, Firestone Walker's brand director told Patch.
"We simply put out a call to action and breweries responded en masse. Members of this incredible industry are collaborative and always there for each other in a time of need," said Brent Knapp, Common Space's founder and CEO.

But "We Love LA" isn't dozens of breweries crafting up the same suds.
"Each brewery will be brewing their own unique beer with the name 'We Love LA' allowing for creativity and expression around a wide range of styles," Barnett said.

Earlier this month, Common Space launched its version — an American lager — at their taproom and at retail stores, while Firestone Walker made their West Coast pilsner available across its locations.
Creature Comforts will launch its version — a West Coast pale ale in collaboration with Crown & Hops — at their downtown LA taproom on April 12, according to Barnett.
Participating breweries will donate to the United Way of Greater Los Angeles’s Wildfire Response Fund. Before the beers had even launched, the initiative had raised some $200,000.
