The westbound 210 Freeway was shut down Friday afternoon after a garbage truck caught fire.

PASADENA, CA — The westbound 210 Freeway was shut down in Pasadena after a garbage truck caught fire Friday afternoon.
All westbound lanes of the freeway were blocked at Lake Avenue shortly after noon. Traffic was diverted off the freeway at Hill Street, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The carpool- and far-left lanes were reopened nearly two hours later. They continued to be the only lanes open at 2:50 p.m.

Traffic remained backed up to Huntington Drive at 2:50 p.m. Authorities earlier said motorists should expect delays of up to two hours, according to a Sigalert.
The shutdown came as traffic was already building for the UCLA Bruins game at Pasadena's Rose Bowl. The game starts at 6 p.m. but parking lots opened at noon for tailgating, Pasadena Now reported.
