4 Dead In Murder-Suicide At LA Home: Police

A man in his 80s is believed to have killed three people and taken his own life at a house in Granada Hills, according to police.

LOS ANGELES — Four people were shot and killed over the weekend in an apparent murder-suicide at a Granada Hills house, according to police.

The victims included a man and woman in their late 40s, a roughly 80-year-old woman, and a man in his late 80s, who was believed to be the shooter and to have taken his own life, police said.

Lt. Blanca Lopez told the Los Angeles Times that the four appeared to be related and that the attack was an isolated incident.

Officers responded around 7 p.m. Saturday to a reported shooting in the 11600 block of Lerdo Avenue, according to police. They knocked on the door and forced entry when no one answered, police said, adding the officers were met by a person who directed them to the deceased.

The two younger victims and the older woman were in a different area of the house than the older man, according to police.

The lone survivor had barricaded themself in a room during the shooting and called police, authorities said.

The home is in an upscale neighborhood that is generally considered quiet and safe, community members told the Times.
