Here are the top five stories in Los Angeles today:
- On Wednesday, the LAPD issued a request for the public to provide information having to do with a stabbing in April. Officers are looking for four teens who murdered a 33-year-old man near Western Avenue and 89th Street. “Police say the suspects wanted in connection to (the) death are two teen girls and two teen boys. All four of the suspects are believed to be between the ages of 14 and 16 years old.” (KTLA)
- Would you like to buy cannabis at the local farmer’s market? Assembly Bill 2691 wants to make it possible for small local growers to sell it to you there. “AB 2691 hopes to bridge the gap between producers who grow less than one acre of cannabis and consumers, something that has been consistently challenging since California voters approved the Adult Use of Marijuana Act/Proposition 64 in 2016.” Critics of the measure include the United Cannabis Business Association, which believes it goes against the intent of Prop 64. (Eater L.A.)
- Amazon Style opened Wednesday at 899 Americana Way. It is the company first brick-and-mortar location for men and women’s clothing. “Each article of clothing inside the store features a QR code that customers can scan to curate a list of clothing they would like to try on in a fitting room or send straight to pick up for purchase — eliminating the need to carry a bunch of items.” (The Verge)
- We learned on Wednesday that the 63-year-old musician Babyface is looking to unload his Bel Air property for $8 million. He originally bought it in 2004 for $4.1 million. Design details include “hand-carved doors, a grotto-style pool and display space for art and sculptures.” (Mansion Global)
- Mark your calendars! There will be a 5-kilometer mini-marathon on June 5 to celebrate Italy’s Republic Day. Hosted by the Consul General of Italy in Los Angeles, it will take the form of an “Italian-style 'street party'.” The run starts at 8 a.m. in San Pedro. “The guest of honor at the event will be Joe Buscaino, the only Italian-American member of the Los Angeles City Council.” (Globe Newswire)
