8 Puppies Rescued From Underneath Burning Car Will Soon Need Homes
Rescued by firefighters last week, the eight puppies are now getting medical care before they're ready to be adopted.
LOS ANGELES, CA — Eight puppies will soon be available for adoption after they were saved by firefighters from underneath a burning vehicle last week.
The month-old shepherd puppies were discovered in a box underneath a burning vehicle in the Antelope Valley by the Los Angeles County Fire Department. Firefighters brought the puppies back to Fire Station 52 in Littlerock and gave them a bath before bringing them to the Los Angeles County Animal Care’s Palmdale shelter.
The shelter asked the Best Friends Animal Society if they could take in the puppies; they're now under the care of the nonprofit's West Los Angeles adoption center, according to the organization.

"All eight puppies — six boys and two girls — are receiving lifesaving care while they decompress in foster homes," the nonprofit said in a release.
The puppies will be available for adoption in early December.

"Dogs and cats looking for loving homes enter the city’s shelters daily, putting continued strain on the shelter system. Puppies are easily susceptible to getting sick in a shelter environment, making them an at-risk population for being killed," the nonprofit said.
