1) Chingón Catering, a popular Arts District food truck, was robbed Thursday. Someone with a red Nissan stole its “generator in broad daylight” while Eddie was preparing an order. Although he tried to stop the thief, they got away. The business got a new generator, but it was expensive, which is tough on the small business. There is a GoFundMe if you would like to help. (Chingón)

2) Former gubernatorial candidate Meg Whitman is selling her 24th story condo at 9255 Doheny Road. Insiders note that “she’s asking $5.5 million, or $1 million less than she paid for it” in 2018. “The two-bedroom, two-bathroom high-rise home has floor-to-ceiling windows with sweeping views from Downtown L.A. to the Pacific Ocean. The newly renovated unit has hardwood floors and all-white decor.” (The Real Deal)

3) We learned on Monday that Alvarado Street, from Sunset Boulevard to the 101 Freeway, now has peak-hour bus lanes. The Metro 2 bus “now runs on Sunset and Alvarado (continuing south on Hoover Street to USC and Exposition Park).” Although all the lettering and signage are in place, “some final thermoplastic lane striping was still pending.” (L.A. Streets Blog)

4) By 2035, we may be drinking water that comes from a currently contaminated Superfund site. We learned on Monday that “nearly 70% of the city’s 115 wells in the San Fernando Valley groundwater basin . . . have been sitting unused for decades after dangerous contaminants seeped into the aquifer.” The plan to “create giant filters” may cost around $600 million. These filters have to eliminate “known carcinogens such as trichloroethylene, perchloroethylene, hexavalent chromium and 1,4-dioxane” that entered the groundwater. (Los Angeles Times/paywall)

5) If you’ve been looking for a new hang-out spot, a wine bar called Cafe Triste opened December 8 at 980 North Broadway. There’ll be “a menu of light bites including Comte cheese toast, greens, cheese platters, and a bouillabaisse.” (A nod to Gotham’s popular café is probably coincidental.) (L.A. Eater)
