Here are the top five stories today in Los Angeles:

  1. Update: The 35-year-old suspect in the Encino Hospital Medical Center stabbing attack made a court appearance on Tuesday. He was charged with “three counts of attempted murder.” It is interesting to note that he “was convicted in five previous felony cases, including a 2018 prosecution for assault with a deadly weapon causing great bodily injury, a 2008 prosecution for assault with a deadly weapon, a 2016 prosecution for an attack on a police officer, a 2016 prosecution for being a felon in illegal possession of a firearm and a 2012 prosecution for receiving stolen property.” (NBC)
  2. After losing 12 consecutive games, the Los Angeles Angels let their manager go on Tuesday. The third base coach will step in as interim manager. The team is “one loss shy of tying the longest skid in franchise history.” In other news, the team showed off its new uniforms that pay homage to “vintage surf brands.” (NBC, CBS)
  3. The new Lakers coach is also doing some house cleaning. Three assistants will be let go Tuesday. However, assistant coaches Phil Handy and Quinton Crawford will stay. "I like coaches that like to roll up their sleeves and are able to get out there," said Coach Darvin Ham, who is accustomed to a team where “all pitched in on all aspects of our team basketball offensively and defensively.” (ESPN)
  4. If you’re finding it difficult to breathe, you aren’t alone. Air quality is overwhelmingly moderate to unhealthy for sensitive groups. The cleanest time of day is generally from 6 a.m. to noon. (AQMD)
  5. Mark your calendars! The 2022 L.A. Pride in the Park is on! Taking place Saturday from 1 p.m. to 11 p.m. at 1245 North Spring Street, the headliner is Christina Aguilera. Look forward to “activities, music, vendors and exhibitors booths, sponsor activations, much food and drink and 21-and-over beer gardens.” (L.A. Pride)
