Firefighter Hurt Battling San Fernando Valley Brush Fire

A brush fire broke out in the San Fernando Valley Tuesday afternoon.

GLENDALE, CA — A firefighter was hurt battling a brush fire that broke out in Glendale Tuesday afternoon.

The fire was first reported at around 3 p.m. in the Brand Park area in Glendale, north of Mountain Street and Grandview Avenue, in a neighborhood in the Verdugo Mountains and adjacent to Burbank.

A Pasadena Fire Department firefighter was injured fighting the blaze, according to the Glendale Fire Department.

Crews stopped forward progress of the fire, which burned 3/4 of an acre of steep terrain, by 4:15 p.m., officials said.

Firefighters planned to drop water on the blaze from a helicopter.

Seven fire engines from Glendale, four from Burbank, and one from Pasadena were on the scene, along with two Los Angeles Fire Department helicopters, ABC 7 reported.

Glendale officials said no structures were threatened and no evacuations were ordered.

"Glendale Fire crews and assisting agencies will be on scene for an extended period until full containment," city officials said.

Brand Park and adjacent trails were closed until further notice.
