Brush Fire Erupts In Sepulveda Basin, Injures 1
The fire erupted around 12:16 p.m. on Wednesday, just north of Encino.
LOS ANGELES, CA — Fire crews have extinguished a fire that broke out Wednesday in the Sepulveda Basin and left one person injured, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.
The fire erupted around 12:16 p.m. in the 6400 block of North Balboa Boulevard, according to the LAFD. The area is just north of Encino.
Roughly 4 acres were burned, with winds reaching five miles per hour taking the flames in a northern direction, the LAFD said. The fire also extended into palm trees and jumped the Metro Orange Line, which is currently closed from Woodley to White Oak, the LAFD said.

No structures have been threatened, although firefighters have a structural defense in place for the nearby Army Recruiting Battalion, the LAFD said, as the flames appear to be a threat to vehicles in the parking lot.
One man was evaluated for a minor burn injury but declined treatment, the LAFD said, but the status of their injuries is unclear at this time.

The LAFD, as of 12:45 p.m., was conducting water drops in the area while fire crews established hose lines on the ground.
Fire crews appear to have extinguished the fire as of 1:52 p.m., with the LAFD saying all forward progression has been stopped.
