Brushfire Breaks Out Near Hansen Dam

With the help f air drops, Los Angeles City and County Fire Departments knocked down the 1.5-acre blaze near a homeless encampment.

LAKE VIEW TERRACE, CA — Firefighters quickly halted a brush fire Tuesday that burned approximately 1.5 acres near Hansen Dam, and no injuries were reported.

The brush fire was reported around 3:35 p.m. in the 11400 block of West Foothill Boulevard, with crews from the Los Angeles City and County Fire Departments working to extinguish light flames in a grassy area, according to LAFD spokeswoman Margaret Stewart.

It took about 60 firefighters from the LAFD combined with aerial assistance and response from the LACFD less than an hour to stop the spread of the blaze.

Firefighters remained on the scene to ensure all hot spots were extinguished and to conduct a clean-up operation.

There were no reports of any injuries of injuries or structural damage. The cause of the fire was under investigation, but ABC7 reported the flames erupted near a homeless encampment in the area. Hansen Dam encampments are a frequent source of brush fire sin the area.
