🎄 The Worst Christmas Songs?
Christmas is around the corner. Songs of the season are everywhere. However, some tunes are better than others. Last year, Rolling Stone compiled a list of the worst Christmas songs of all time. Which song is the one that is the worst in your book? So far, we have:
- NewSong, ‘The Christmas Shoes’ - 37.5%
- The Jackson 5, ‘I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus’ - 37.5%
- Seth MacFarlane and Sara Bareilles, ‘Baby, It’s Cold Outside’ - 12.5%
- Band Aid, ‘Do They Know It’s Christmas?’ - 12.5%
📰 Here are the top stories today in Los Angeles:
1) There was a building fire in the 6300 block of East Ruby Street on Thursday just before 10 a.m. Nobody was injured; however, firefighters ran into difficulties when they “encountered significant storage within the attic.” Even so, they put out the fire in 21 minutes. Adding to the challenges was a roofing project that was in progress at the location. (The Eastsider LA)
2) Was that a man and his dog on a billboard platform near 1855 East Washington Boulevard? Yes, you saw that correctly. On Wednesday, a man and his canine companion had found shelter between two billboards, causing numerous calls to the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD). Officials responded just before 6 p.m., and both man and dog left their location. “It is unclear why the man and his dog were up on the platform, but video shows police taking him into custody.” (KTLA)
3) Chesapeake Apartments update: On June 9, we learned that the Health Department and Code Enforcement were working in the 425-unit complex to address complaints by the residents. Fast-forward to Thursday, whn we found out that “the volume of citations led the landlord to make fixes throughout the complex, and inspectors returned multiple times to check on their progress.” So far, the catalog of about 1,600 citations has been reduced to 84. However, tenants disagree. “They just come and put the same things back, even if it’s all full of mold and messed up,” one resident said. (Patch, Los Angeles Times/paywall)
4) You know about Black Friday and Small Business Saturday, but do you know that Museum Store Sunday is on November 27? It's a shopping opportunity that encourages museum-goers — or those shopping the gift shops online — to support “this dimension of our favorite mind-growing destinations.” In L.A., for example, there's the Academy Store at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures at 6067 Wilshire Boulevard or the shop at the National History Museum at 900 Exposition Boulevard. Check them out! (NBC)
5) Do you love listening to tuba music? Do you adore Christmas music? Then you need to head to the Hall of Liberty at Forest Lawn, Hollywood Hills on December 4 for a Tuba Christmas concert. “Players are often gorgeously and even garishly dressed for the occasion, and the instruments frequently rock tinsel, ornaments, and the sort of gewgaws that only a shiny and splendid tuba could wear.” (NBC)
