🦃 Thanksgiving Poll!
Thanksgiving is on November 24th. How do you celebrate? So far, 43.8% celebrate a big meal as a family tradition, while 28.8% don’t celebrate and treat it like any other day. In a smaller group, 1.4% don’t celebrate because they feel it glorifies the conquest of Native Americans; however, 26% choose to celebrate a traditional Thanksgiving out of gratitude.

📰 Here are the top stories today in Los Angeles:

1) Robbers stole two French bulldogs from their owners at gunpoint. The crime took place on Saturday on the 6th Street Bridge just after midnight. The suspects “fled the scene in a dark-colored 2010 to 2013 Nissan.” If you have any information, please call the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) at 877-527-3247. (Fox)

2) A violent attack happened on the Metro Blue Line on November 1. We learned on Monday that a video shows the assault and the fact that nobody stepped in to help. The incident happened around 3 p.m. as the train approached the Slauson station. “The metro made a stop at Slauson alerting authority and yet the altercation continued.” (Yahoo!news)

3) On Monday, there was a structure fire at 268 South Los Angeles Street. Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) firefighters found a two-story “commercial building with contents fire on the first floor, and smoke throughout both floors.” They focused on preventing the spread of the flames. There is no information about the cause of the fire. (LAFD)

4) The city will expand the CIRCLE program into east and south L.A. We learned on Tuesday that CIRCLE, which is short for Crisis and Incident Response Community-Led Engagement, teams respond to calls involving nonviolent homeless individuals. The goal is to meet people in crisis “with a sense of calm, with patience, with compassion and without judging.” “We’re flipping the script with the Crisis and Incident Response through a Community-Led Engagement program,” wrote Mayor Eric Garcetti on Twitter. (ABC, Mayor of LA)

5) Pop-up holiday bar Blitzen’s will return to Here and Now at 300 South Santa Fe Avenue. The opening day is November 22, and the bar will be open every day except Mondays. If you’re unfamiliar with this Art District treat, consider it your oasis of “tinselly decorations, potent and pretty cocktails, and tantalizing spins on traditional holiday dishes.” (NBC)
