But before we jump into Southern California's top stories, residents should expect this weekend's pleasant weather to continue through Monday with temperatures within 5 degrees of normal for most locations.

But cool, soggy weather could make a return Wednesday when a weak upper low swings across SoCal, bringing cool temperatures and a chance of drizzle or light rain across the region.

"The passage of this low will bring an increase in cloud cover as the marine layer deepens, and cooler, locally breezy conditions," National Weather Service forecasters wrote.

High temperatures are expected to be between 7 and 12 degrees below seasonal averages inland, while some mountain locations could see highs 20 degrees below average, according to the NWS.

In other news, President Donald Trump has faced legal roadblocks in his efforts to send troops to Chicago and Portland. Now, he says he wants to send the National Guard to San Francisco — and he's willing to use a federal law last invoked during LA's 1992 Rodney King riots in order to get it done.

Plus, a group of firefighters who parked their fire truck in a store parking lot were in for a surprise when they emerged from the retailer to find their truck missing.

Additionally, falling shrapnel struck two California Highway Patrol vehicles Saturday when artillery fired as part of a celebration of the U.S. Marine Corps' 250th anniversary exploded prematurely over the 5 Freeway near Camp Pendleton.
