Decrying Trump Racism, LeBron James Endorses Harris For President

James joins the likes of Beyoncé and Taylor Swift in endorsing Vice President Kamala Harris for President.

LOS ANGELES, CA — Lakers legend LeBron James endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris for president on social media on Thursday, joining the likes of Beyoncé and Taylor Swift in backing the Democratic candidate.

The athlete holds sway with a key demographic in which former president Donald Trump has made inroads, men and specifically Black men. His endorsement included a video calling Trump out for racism and features clips of racist statements by Trump and his supporters.

"What are we even talking about here?? When I think about my kids and my family and how they will grow up, the choice is clear to me. VOTE KAMALA HARRIS," James said on X, formerly known as Twitter.

The video starts with a clip of Trump's now infamous Madison Square rally with a speaker's racist joke about watermelons and ends with the caption, “Hate takes us back.” The video cites former KKK grand wizard David Duke's support for Trump, Trump supporters praising Hitler and clips of Trump denigrating majority Black cities such as Detroit and discussing “Black jobs” and “immigrants poisoning the blood of our country.”

As much as it was an endorsement for Harris, it was an indictment against Trump.
