Crash Derails Metro Train In Downtown Los Angeles
A Metro train derailed in a crash in downtown Los Angeles Wednesday morning.
LOS ANGELES, CA — A Metro A Line train and a pickup truck collided in downtown Los Angeles Wednesday morning, causing the train to derail.
The collision was reported at 4:16 a.m. Wednesday at the intersection of East Washington Boulevard and San Pedro Street, just south of the 10 Freeway, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
Video aired by CBS Los Angeles shows the pickup truck resting perpendicular on the track — which runs on the street in that area — and the train stopped against its passenger side, which appeared severely damaged. The truck's airbags were deployed and the train's front windshield was smashed.

Two passengers in the pickup truck walked away from the scene before authorities arrived, the station reported.
Service on Metro's A Line was disrupted between the Washington and Grand stations with bus shuttles replacing train service at the San Pedro Station until about 8 a.m., according to Metro.
Service on the E Line was also affected as both lines share a single track at the Pico Station, according to the agency.
Both lines resumed regular service by about 9 a.m., Metro reported.
