- A man was shot to death in the 5500 block of Whittier Boulevard on Sunday evening. “Investigators have learned the victim and a male Hispanic suspect exchanged words on the sidewalk at the location near a food truck. The suspect drew a handgun and began shooting at the victim. The victim also drew a firearm and returned fire.” “The shooting is being investigated as gang-related.” (Fox 11)
- The Natural History Museum of Los Angeles invites you to participate in its digital series "Kneaded: LA Bread Stories." We learned on Monday that this year-long series lets participants explore “baking as a way to discover the different traditions and identities that make up LA.” It’s free, and there are already displays to enjoy! (Spectrum News 1)
- Three Angelenos pleaded not guilty on Tuesday “to charges of scamming dozens of immigrants by unlawfully providing legal services for residency or work permits.” According to the DA, “the three allegedly filed invalid political asylum cases for the victims, resulting in the majority being unknowingly processed for deportation while netting just over $101,000 from 38 alleged victims.” (My News LA)
- The dog is safe! On Monday afternoon, the LBFD responded to “reports of a woman and her dog in the water near the Sepulveda Dam.” They first rescued the woman, but it took another couple of hours to also rescue her dog. “Swift water crews harnessed the German shepherd mix near the CBS Studios in Studio City.” The pup has been warmed up, fed, and checked out at the East Valley Animal Shelter. (NBC)
- As of Tuesday, the City began offering a second COVID-19 booster dose to residents who are immunocompromised or “who are aged 50 and over, and who received their last booster shot at least four months ago.” There has been “an uptick in COVID infections attributed to the BA.2, an offshoot of the Omicron variant.” (Patch)

Where should you invest as a Los Angeles resident with a $149,000 nest egg? Thanks to a change in the legal code, there’s a new investment Los Angeles residents need to know about. In fact, Bloomberg asked experts where they’d invest $100,000 right now, and many of them chose it.
This may surprise you, but it’s fine art.
Growing your nest egg with art isn’t new. Wealthy families like the Rockefellers have done it for centuries.
Here’s why:
- Low correlation to stocks according to Citi
- Contemporary art historically returns 23.2% when inflation is >3%
- Contemporary art prices outpaced the S&P 500 by 164% (1995-2021)
Translation: Art could be one of the best investments for uncertain times.
Luckily for you, we found Masterworks. This revolutionary platform lets you invest in art by Warhol, Monet, Picasso without spending millions.
