LOS ANGELES — Disney Channel icon Christy Carlson Romano was shot in the face Friday, the actress said in an Instagram video.
Carlson Romano had gone with her husband to shoot clay pigeons Friday for his birthday, according to the video’s caption.
“There was another party with us and they unsafely fired in the wrong direction and shot me in the face,” the caption said. “I was hit in 5 places, one was less than an inch from hitting me directly in my right eye.”

Carlson Romano had fragments in her face, including one lodged behind her eye that was determined to be too risky to remove surgically, according to the Instagram post, which said doctors would continue to monitor the situation. The actress appeared in the video with a hole under one eye and visible bruising.
Carlson Romano, who voiced the title character in “Kim Possible” and played Ren Stevens in “Even Stevens,” was treated at St. David’s South Austin Medical Center, she said.

“With everything that happened, all I can think about is how grateful I am to be alive,” Carlson Romano said in the caption, adding she could still see normally. “I love my daughters, husband, family, and friends so much. I saw my life flash before my eyes and I’m telling you, hug the people around you every chance you can. Life can change in an instant.”
