Malibu, already ravaged by fires and mudslides, sustained two earthquakes within seven hours of each other Saturday. The earthquakes were relatively minor, and no damage was caused.

In other news, Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass said in an interview that her trip to Ghana right before the Palisades and Eaton fires broke out was a mistake. Forecasters had warned of dangerous fire weather in the days leading up to Jan. 7, but Bass went on a pre-scheduled trip anyway.
