📰 Here are the top stories in Los Angeles today:

1) A U.S. veteran experiencing homelessness was stabbed and killed at Los Angeles City College. We learned on Tuesday that the man was found on November 7 at the “college parking structure located at 640 North Heliotrope Dr. around 2:06 p.m.” If you have any information, please call 213-229-1700. (KTLA)

2) On Tuesday, the Los Angeles City Council approved $5.1 million to benefit Westside transportation projects. As requested by Councilman Mike Bonin, the money will go to the Lincoln Boulevard Multimodal Bridge Improvement Project, Rose Avenue Pathway construction, and a concurrent protected bike lane project. Councilwoman-elect Traci Park attempted to stop the vote, calling it a “last-minute rush job (with a) massive price tag attached to them,” but was unsuccessful. (Spectrum News1)

3) The Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) responded to reports of a structure fire at 10930 West Randall Street. The call came on Wednesday morning around 4 a.m. “LAFD personnel remain in defensive firefighting operations with no injuries reported.” (LAFD)

4) Los Angeles will be getting new bus shelters before 2026. We learned on Wednesday that the project, Los Angeles’ Sidewalk and Transit Amenities Program (STAP), “prioritizes shelter, shade, safety, and comfort for the city’s transit riders.” Black & Veatch received the contract that calls for 3,000 shelters that “will reimagine curbside functionality with state-of-the-art, interactive amenities.” (The Bakersfield Californian)

5) The County of Los Angeles celebrated its tree lighting ceremony on Monday at The Music Center. Crowds began flocking to 135 North Grand Avenue before 5 p.m. Organizers had planned for hot cocoa and live music. If you didn’t make it, check out the ceremony snapshots on Instagram.
