BURBANK, CA — A food delivery driver has been arrested after being caught on camera stealing from a Toys for Tots donation box — and then returning to the scene to raid the box a second time, according to police.

The theft occurred at a business at 2550 N. Hollywood Way, across from the Hollywood Burbank Airport.

On Dec. 3, a food delivery driver entered the business to deliver an order. After the delivery, staff noticed several toys were missing from a donation box in the lobby, according to the Burbank Police Department.

Management watched security camera footage from that day and saw the driver taking toys from the box and leaving the business, police said.

The driver then returned later that day with an empty insulated bag meant to carry food. "The suspect was then seen concealing additional toys in the bag before leaving the building and driving away," police said.

Police identified a suspect and three days after the theft served a search warrant at his home, the BPD said.

"Officers recovered multiple toys consistent with those stolen from the donation box, including board games, puzzles, a Hot Wheels set, and Disney princess dolls," police wrote.

Several toys were returned to the business' donation box.

The suspect, whose name was not released, was arrested, police said.

Toys for Tots is program organized by the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve that distributes toys to children in need around the holidays.
