🌱 Freeway Chase Ends In Surrender + L.A. Gas Cheaper Than Mendocino's
The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Los Angeles.

Hello, everybody; today is World Caring Day, which is named after the CaringBridge website designed in 1997. I'm here right on time with your fresh copy of the Los Angeles Daily, full of all the community information you need to know right now.
There was a freeway chase that interrupted noon radio rather than the Conway Show. Also, gas is expensive, but there are some folks who’re having it worse. Finally, L.A. City workers get another paid holiday.

📢 Fireworks Poll!
Fireworks are illegal in the City of Los Angeles. Scofflaws may be fined $500, $1,000, or more. How do you feel about that? Please let me know your thoughts! (As of today, 76.7% don’t want fireworks, 16.7% want “safe and sane fireworks,” 3.3% want to choose what to buy, and another 3.3% don’t care one way or the other.)

Here are the top five stories in Los Angeles today:
- Did you see the Chevy Colorado being chased by law enforcement on Monday? It began as a carjacking in San Dimas and then turned into a police chase involving the 10, 710, and 5 freeways. The California Highway Patrol joined, and the chase finally ended in Santa Fe Springs. (NBC)
- If you’ve been getting sticker shock at the pump, it’ll most likely continue. In the County, gas prices rose three cents on Sunday (to $6.351), which came on the heels of a 5.5-cent increase on Saturday. Right now, the national average price is at $4.848. On the other hand, gas here is still cheaper than in Mendocino, where drivers are paying $9.60 per gallon. (Fox LA, ABC 30)
- On Monday, Mayor Eric Garcetti signed a proclamation making Juneteenth a paid holiday for city employees. Juneteenth commemorates June 19, 1865, which saw “a Union general arriving in Galveston, Texas, to inform the last African Americans still held in bondage in this nation that they were free and the Civil War was over.” It became an official federal holiday in 2021. (Fox)
- Mark your calendars! Do you know a Los Angeles Unified School District graduate who is looking for work in the district? The LAUSD has positions to fill! There will be four job fairs this month, with the first one taking place on June 14 at the Harbor Occupational Center in South L.A. “Job openings include clerical, administration, janitorial services, early education, food services, library, technology, instructional assistant, school safety, special education, and student transportation, among others.” (NBC)
- If you’re looking for something to do with the kids this summer, consider joining the Great L.A. River Cleanup! Taking place over the course of eight weekends at 15 sites, an estimated 5,000 will participate and remove around 55 tons of trash from the “three natural-bottom sections of the River – the Sepulveda Basin, the Glendale Narrows, and the estuary in Long Beach.” The next one will be on June 11 at 6300 Balboa Blvd. (FOLAR)
