📰 Here are the top five stories today in Los Angeles:

1) On Sunday morning, burglars targeted the Green Qween, a QTBIPOC owned and curated dispensary at 1051 South Broadway. Open since May, this is the second burglary. It is noteworthy that the burglars came in broad daylight and attempted “to pull off our front gate using their car, smashing the front door, and putting through reinforced security bars” with power tools. (Instagram)

2) A hoax led to a lockdown of Hollywood High School on Tuesday morning. Located at 1521 North Highland Avenue, the PD received “a false report of a possible shooting at the campus.” Now, the search is on for the person causing the campus shutdown and police response. (Patch)

3) In other school news, John Marshall High School can’t play sports in the dark. Located at 3939 Tracy Street, we learned on Tuesday that the school’s sports field has no lighting. Home games played in the afternoon have to end once the sun goes down, “regardless of how much time is left on the competition clock.” The cost to illuminate the playing field would be around $1.5 million. (The Eastsider LA)

4) Basketball season is only a month away, and we learned on Tuesday that L.A. Laker Russell Westbrook listed his Brentwood mansion for sale. Asking for $29.995 million, he bought the 13,500-square-foot home for $19.75 million in 2018. Scuttlebutt went into overdrive regarding the athlete’s future with the team, and “spokespeople for Mr. Westbrook declined to comment.” (FanNation)

5) We’re number 34! Last Tuesday, a list of the best and worst places to retire was released. Experts considered good value for the consumer dollar, good weather, leisure activities and access to good healthcare. Los Angeles came in 34th place out of 182. San Francisco beat us and is in 6th place. San Diego is in 23rd place. Number one is Charleston, SC. At the bottom of the list is Bridgeport, CT. (WalletHub)
