- The Healthy Indulgence Bakery is a Ukrainian-American-owned and operated business that is doing its part to help the animals of the war-torn country. The owner’s sister is a veterinarian in Ukraine and “caring for more than 300 animals left behind in cities destroyed by bombs, and has no plans to leave the country.” You can help the business add to the “150 care packages funded by Angelenos (that) will arrive in Kyiv on April 13, ready for distribution to animal shelters around the country.” (KCRW)
- Easter is coming, but L.A.’s Bunny World Foundation warns against buying a bunny for the sake of the holiday. “Despite an ordinance prohibiting the sale and purchase of live animals on the streets of Los Angeles, the year-round live animal market in LA's Fashion District, specifically Santee Alley, is thriving.” Besides that, please note that some of the animals you buy “are tiny babies, taken from their mothers before they are properly weaned. Many of these baby rabbits will die soon after purchase.” (Spectrum News 1)
- George Gascón attacked Jackie Lacey for “declining to prosecute police officers who killed people.” He hired an attorney to review the files. “One year and 1.5 million dollars later, Gascón's handpicked special prosecutor has reviewed four closed cases without the filing of any charges.” (Santa Monica Observer)
- Kerrion Franklin from Bad Boys Club was arrested Sunday morning in Beverly Hills. The arrest took place “just after 7:30 a.m. on a misdemeanor charge.” Subsequent reports are conflicting. Was he arrested for resisting arrest? Was he held until Tuesday? Is he being extradited to Texas? “Authorities reportedly found a gun in the car.” (Newsbreak)
- Every year, Fatburger offers specials for April 20, “with deals designed for weed enthusiasts and anyone else with a case of the munchies.” Check out the online offers of America’s "Last Great Hamburger Stand.” Or head to your nearest location, there are plenty in L.A., on 4/20. And, if you’re living the high life, check out Wonderbrett Store that day; there will be “limited-edition bud, live resin cartridges, and gummies inspired by” the strawberry milkshake. (Mashed)
