LOS ANGELES — As the weekend wraps up, we've rounded up some of the stories you may have missed Saturday and Sunday to prepare you for Monday.
But before we jump into Southern California’s top stories, the Golden State is looking at its first heat wave of the summer heading toward Independence Day, and forecasters warn fire dangers will remain elevated for parts of SoCal in the coming days.

"The extended models show fairly good agreement and consistency in the long term, moving the upper trough east of the Thursday into Friday, with an upper ridge building in quickly Friday afternoon, ushering in a long duration heat event," NWS Los Angeles wrote Sunday. "The ridge is forecast to strengthen over the West Coast through the weekend and persist into early next week."

Catching up on the weekend: Hikers found human remains in the area where actor Julian Sands went missing earlier in the year, and detectives are investigating the deaths of two women at a Diamond Bar assisted living facility.
Plus, a crash in San Diego County sparked a fast-moving brush fire, and a residential burn ban begins Monday across a large portion of Riverside County.
