🦃 Thanksgiving Poll!
Thanksgiving is on November 24th. How do you celebrate? So far, 43.7% celebrate a big meal as a family tradition, while 29.6% don’t celebrate and treat it like any other day. In a smaller group, 1.4% don’t celebrate because they feel it glorifies the conquest of Native Americans; however, 25.4% choose to celebrate a traditional Thanksgiving out of gratitude.

📰 Here are the top stories in Los Angeles today:

1) The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) arrested a 23-year-old Mississippi resident on Saturday on suspicion of “a felony hit-and-run” with a $50,000 bail. He is the suspect who allegedly drove a white Porsche Cayenne SUV into a street carnival “in the 3000 block of South Trinity Street near Martin Luther King Boulevard.” The suspect attempted to avoid a traffic stop by driving through a cement rail, which placed him in the carnival. “Six patients were rushed to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.” (ABC, New York Post)

2) Rapper Nas’ home was burglarized on Saturday. While he was attending an album release event, “two assailants broke through the home’s back door to get inside.” They escaped with unidentified loot and reportedly did significant damage to the home. (The Root)

3) Why did Morrissey stop his concert on Saturday after just half an hour? Scuttlebutt suggests that “Morrissey couldn’t handle the chilly temperatures” at the Greek Theatre. The official reasons are “unforeseen circumstances.” The artist’s Instagram account teases “further announcements coming shortly,” while the Greek Theatre says, “the show has been postponed to a later day.” (KTLA)

4) The City of Los Angeles wants to hear from anyone who ever “received a City-collected fine or fee.” The L.A. controller said on Sunday that the survey is open to community members who received city parking tickets, library fines, late fees, traffic violation fines and more. (L.A. Controller)

5) A proposed office tower in the Arts District will be built with an estimated completion date in 2025. We learned on Monday that the city council rejected the appeal that wanted to block construction at 640-657 Mesquit Street. The developer can continue with the 14-story building that is slated for office and commercial space. (Urbanize L.A.)
