Horse Dies From Training Injury At Santa Anita Park

A 4-year-old colt died from a training injury suffered at Santa Anita Park on Thanksgiving, state officials announced Sunday.

ARCADIA, CA — A 4-year-old colt died from a training injury suffered at Santa Anita Park on Thanksgiving, state officials announced Sunday.

Restiany had 10 career starts and two first-place finishes. He was owned by Guy Pariente and trained by John Sadler. His jockey was Jose Valdivia Jr.

The California Horse Racing Board lists his cause of death as musculoskeletal.

Restiany is the 20th racehorse to die at Santa Anita this year, with nine racing deaths, nine training fatalities and two deaths listed as "other."

The Arcadia track finished its fall racing season on Oct. 31, and will begin its winter season on Dec. 26.
