LA Sheriff's Deputy Accused Of Sexually Assaulting 13-Year-old Girl

The DA's office announced charges against Bryan Cardoso, 30, accusing him of viciously assaulting the child.

LOS ANGELES, CA — A Los Angeles County sheriff's deputy was charged with committing a lewd act on a 13-year-old girl in what prosecutors are calling a particularly violent and vicious assault.

The Los Angeles District Attorney's Office on Wednesday announced charges against Bryan Cardoso, 30. Cardoso is suspected of assaulting the girl at his Cudahy home on June 13, 2022, according to prosecutors.

"It is further alleged that the sexual assault involved great violence, great bodily harm, threat of great bodily harm, and other acts disclosing a high degree of cruelty, viciousness, and callousness," the district attorney's office announced in a written statement.

Authorities did not say how Cardoso and the suspect may be connected. Patch was not able to reach Cardoso for comment on the charges.

"I am heartbroken and outraged by the egregious assault on an innocent 13-year-old girl by someone who was entrusted with protecting our community. This child has endured an unimaginable violation of trust," District Attorney George Gascón said in a statement. "The alleged actions of this deputy are reprehensible and unacceptable."

Cardoso faces up to eight years in prison if convicted. He was released on $100,000 bond Sept. 12 and remains free. He is scheduled to be arraigned Nov. 8.

The case is being prosecuted by DA’s Sex Crimes Division and investigated by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Internal Criminal Investigation Bureau.
