Police Shoot Burglary Suspect, Arrest 3 Others In Standoff
A burglary in a Mid-City residential neighborhood turned deadly when a barricaded suspect reportedly charged toward officers.
LOS ANGELES, CA — Police shot and killed a burglary suspect in the Mid-City area and took several other suspects into custody Monday morning.
The fatal Los Angeles Police Department shooting came after a stand-off in which the lone holdout suspect reportedly tried to set fire to a home in the 2600 block of South Halm Avenue, according to authorities and reports from the scene.
Officers were called to respond to a report of a burglary in process shortly before 3:30 a.m., according to the LAPD. They quickly took three suspects into custody and called in a SWAT Team to handle the remaining suspect barricaded inside the home.

The suspect reportedly tried to set fire to the home and charged outside toward police officers, who opened fire, killing the suspect. Firefighters extinguished the blaze.
Broadcast footage from the scene showed a tarp covering a body on the front lawn just feet from the SWAT Team's armored vehicle.
