📰 Here are the top stories in Los Angeles today:

1) On Saturday, we were told about a “$2 million bike lane to nowhere.” On Monday, we learned that this lane in front of the Liberation Coffee House on Santa Monica Boulevard is actually a road widening for cars, called “right of way dedication.” It’s not a bike lane. (Biking LA)

2) An Eagle Rock resident filed a lawsuit against Metro over the Colorado Boulevard bus line. Connecting North Hollywood and Pasadena, it “leaves only one lane in each direction for other traffic along a stretch of Colorado Boulevard.” The suit alleges failure to “follow proper procedures before holding a public meeting on April 28 by teleconference instead of in person.” We learned on Monday that a hearing is scheduled for July 25. (The Eastsider LA)

3) We learned on Monday that the city “issued 17,008 building permits” in August and 15,146 in September. At the end of the year’s third quarter, the total of issued permits is 46,668. Compare this to the same time in 2019, when the number reached 49,319. (Xtown)

4) The city invites you to join the FREE Greater Los Angeles Safety & Preparedness Fair on November 12. It runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The location is the Green Lot of Exposition Park at 3986 Hoover Street. Get an emergency kit, learn CPR, and buy tasty goodies from food trucks. (Ready LA)

5) A Blockbuster Speakeasy Pop-up Bar is coming to 7174 Melrose Avenue on November 19. Gen X, which routinely gets the short end of the stick, can finally re-live the Y2K craze and the pride of having a Blockbuster membership card. Brunch costs $55 a person and requires signup. (Bucketlisters)
