💧 Water Crisis Poll! 💧
Residents are limited to watering their landscapes two days per week, before 9 a.m. or after 4 p.m. What else should the City do to deal with the water crisis? Please let me know your thoughts! So far, 23.2% want to mandate drought-resistant landscaping, 17.9% want to recycle wastewater for irrigation, another 37.5% want to build a desalination plant at the coast, and 21.4% don’t believe residential water use contributes to the water crisis.
Here are the top five stories today in Los Angeles:
- A burglar murdered a 64-year-old resident who confronted him. The crime took place on July 4 “at an apartment near 2008 Griffin Avenue near Darwin Avenue.” “The suspect is described as a man wearing a mask and dark clothing.” (Fox)
- Early on Wednesday, we learned that authorities were searching the lake next to SoFi Stadium for the body of a man. “Security cameras captured the man walking into the water just after 6 a.m.” Several hours later, authorities recovered a body. (GigiGraciette)
- Taco Vendor Assault Update: On Tuesday, we talked about the South Tacos vendor who was assaulted after having her products thrown on the street. The incident was caught on video. We learned later that the “woman in the video was arrested Tuesday afternoon and booked into jail, where she awaits charges for robbery. She is currently being held on a $60,000 bail.” (KTLA)
- Students Run LA is a non-profit that “teaches students character development by training them for the Los Angeles Marathon.” We learned on Tuesday that burglars stole about 500 pairs of shoes the organization gives to kids it works with. Adding insult to injury, when the thieves could not carry away everything the first time, they came back with a truck. (ABC)
- On Wednesday, a Superior Court judge “ruled in favor of the father of a 12-year-old student who challenged the Los Angeles Unified School District's student coronavirus vaccine mandate, finding that the resolution approving the directive clashes with state law.” The school district attempted unsuccessfully to have the ruling apply only to the child on whose behalf the action was brought. “Los Angeles Unified will continue to take measures to ensure the health and safety of its students, employees, and school community,” the district maintained. (KFI)
