🦃 Thanksgiving Poll!
Thanksgiving is on November 24th. How do you celebrate? Will it be a traditional Thanksgiving or a big meal with friends and family because that’s what you’ve always done? Or do you choose not to celebrate because you feel that it glorifies the conquest of Native Americans; maybe you just don’t celebrate for other reasons. Please let us know!
📰 Here are the top stories today in Los Angeles:
1) There was a fire on 3rd and Los Angeles streets on Wednesday. The Little Tokyo building caught on fire once before, two years ago. According to a spokesperson for the Los Angeles Fire Department, “it was unsafe for firefighters to enter the building.” The century-old building is now red-tagged. (Rafu)
2) Last week on Wednesday, a pedestrian in his 30s was killed in a traffic accident near Normandie Avenue at Dunwich Avenue. The driver remained on the scene and called the police. However, a second vehicle also struck the man but did not stop. The Los Angeles Police Department is now looking for the driver of the white sedan. If you have information about that driver, call South Traffic Division Detectives at 213-713-9579. (LAPD)
3) There was a deadly bus stop shooting at 8th Street and Union Avenue. A woman allegedly shot a man sitting at the Westlake bus stop Friday evening “in the face at point-blank range.” The suspect then fled. (CBS)
4) We learned a couple of weeks ago that 65-year-old Dinah’s Family Restaurant at 6521 South Sepulveda Boulevard is dealing with the construction all around it. You may know that the demolition of the area makes way for a 362-unit multifamily residential building. While there is space for the eatery to return, guests worry about what will happen during construction. Dinah’s is “dedicated to staying open and remaining that way through it all.” (LA Eater)
5) Find the “Huluween Trick or Treat Truck” today, Sunday, at the Melrose Trading Post from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. For a 21-and-over event, head to Venice Beach’s Great White Cafe between 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The streaming service is handing out FREE ice cream to advertise its “animated Halloween content.” (Daily News)
