Los Angeles Equestrian Coach Accused Of Sexual Assaulting Minor

LOS ANGELES, CA — A Los Angeles equestrian coach was arrested last week on suspicion of sexual assault, including an attack on a minor, according to the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office.

Michael Traurig, 52, was also an equestrian coach for youth and adults in San Mateo County. He was also charged sexually assaulting an adult victim in Los Angeles County, where he recently moved to coach, the sheriff’s office said. There are other sexual assault cases where Traurig’s name has been mentioned that have exceeded the statue of limitations, according to the sheriff’s office.

The victim in the San Mateo case was 13 years old, and the incident occurred on the 3600 block of Sand Hill Road in unincorporated San Mateo County, according to the sheriff’s office.

Traurig was arrested in Los Angeles with the help of San Mateo County Sheriff’s detectives. He was booked into Los Angeles County Jail and transported to San Mateo County.

He appeared in court on Monday and his bail was set at $1 million.
