LOS ANGELES — Los Angeles Lakers newcomer Luka Dončić announced Monday that his namesake foundation would donate $500,000 to recovery efforts after the Palisades and Eaton fires decimated the area last month.

“It's been so sad to see and learn more about the damage from the wildfires since I landed in LA,” Dončić said in a statement posted on the Luka Dončić Foundation’s Instagram account. “To everyone affected by these fires: we’re here to help, now and for the long haul.”

In addition to the $500,000 for immediate recovery efforts, Dončić said he was also committed to helping rebuild courts, playgrounds and fields destroyed by the blazes.
